Polêmica sobre Livro Didático oportuniza discussão sobre as variedades linguísticas
Desde a semana passada, uma série de insultos tem sido pronunciada contra os profissionais da área da linguagem, professores e pesquisadores, que defendem a existência e o uso das distintas variedades linguísticas da língua portuguesa. Os ofensores, jornalistas, políticos e até procuradora da Justiça, colocam-se como “guardiões” do idioma e contribuem para o reforço do preconceito quanto a alguns usos sociais da língua e, consequentemente, dos falantes que se utilizam dessas variedades. A polêmica surgiu com a divulgação do livro didático “Por uma vida melhor”, voltado para a Educação de Jovens e Adultos, que apresenta enunciados que fogem à regra da gramática normativa, tais como “os menino pega o peixe”, “os livro emprestado”. O que causou maior espanto e indignação nos defensores da “língua única” foi que, logo abaixo tais enunciados, o livro trazia à pergunta “Mas eu posso falar ‘os livro’?” a seguinte resposta “Claro que pode. Mas fique atento porque, dependendo da situação, você corre o risco de ser vítima de preconceito linguístico. Mas, em algumas situações você será vítima de preconceito linguístico”.
Se, por um lado, é inaceitável que pessoas que não têm nenhuma formação na área da linguagem queiram palpitar sobre o ensino, desmerecer as pesquisas linguísticas e ainda mencionar, falseamente, que a culpa da má qualidade do ensino é de “professores preguiçosos” que ensinam “errado” aos alunos, por apresentarem as diversidades linguísticas, por outro, a (ainda) polêmica colabora para colocar um holofote sobre o tema do preconceito linguístico, que até então não fazia parte da agenda de questões relevantes para serem debatidas na mídia.
Nesse sentido, apesar de não ser recente o trabalho em prol da inclusão das variedades linguísticas no ensino (a coleção de livros didáticos “Linguagem e escola”, de Magda Soares, lançada na década de 80, por exemplo, já contempla a discussão sobre as variedades linguísticas), com o espaço na mídia, nós, pesquisadores da área da linguagem, teremos a oportunidade de ampliar o escopo do público-alvo nessa discussão, não restringindo o diálogo aos membros da esfera acadêmica, mas contemplando a população em geral. Poderemos dizer ao senso comum que levantar a bandeira do “certo” e do “errado” é contribuir para estigmatizar grupos sociais, considerá-los inferiores, “desempoderando-os” de sua condição de falantes que sabem a língua. Poderemos dizer que julgar um indivíduo pelo uso que ele faz da língua é tão preconceituoso quanto julgá-lo por sua cor, opção sexual, etnia, etc. Mas devemos deixar claro que essa disputa política – mais do que linguística – não visa à simples legitimação do discurso acadêmico, mas, mais do que isso, visa ao reconhecimento dos usos linguísticos de todos os grupos de falantes, que, com o seu modo de usar a língua, mantém uma relação identitária.

1Acho importante investirmos nessa discussão agora que ela ganhou espaço, pois, apesar do esforço de estudiosos da linguagem e professores no sentido de discutir as variedades linguísticas e integrá-las ao ensino, as categorias de “certo” e “errado” continuam regendo fortemente os discursos que circulam na mídia e na própria escola sobre os usos da língua. O pior é que os professores mais novos, acabam não sendo ouvidos por preconceito com a formação recente. Eu me formei no ano passado e convivo com outras professores de Língua Portuguesa que tem uma posição conservadora e equivocada. Ainda alimentam a dicotomia do certo e errado e tem uma posição extremamente prescritivista, mas enfim…e quando pediram o posicionamente das professoras, somente as com “mais experiência” foram ouvidas… :(
Desde que comecei a lecionar, tenho “brigado” (às vezes, literalmente) por um novo discurso, novas representações, mas meu Deus, como é difícil….pelo menos, meus alunos me escutam…rs
2Obrigada, Paula e Géssica! Acho que estamos vivendo um momento muito importante para a mudança de paradigma quanto ao modo de se conceber a língua. Por isso, não podemos abrir mão dessa luta político-linguística, mas aproveitar a oportunidade para explicar a todos, principalmente o senso comum, que o reconhecimento dos usos linguísticos não nega o ensino da norma culta. Não se sinta desanimada, Géssica, pois, se os seus alunos te escutam, é ótimo! Se os professores assumirem a mesma postura que a sua, as próximas gerações não estarão contaminadas com o preconceito linguístico, não será necessária travar uma ferrenha discussão a fim de desmanchar a noção de “certo” e “errado” e não haverá embate contra a mídia, pois os próprios jornalistas já terão aprendido, na escola, a noção de adequação e inadequação… De um ponto de vista bem otimista, está aí um importante momento histórico!… Abraços, Marília.

Até o internetês entra na discussão, mas ainda existe um equívoco muito grande, porque os alunos estão chegando à universidade apresentando uma escrita muito próxima da oralidade, totalmente fora da norma padrão e os professores universitários estão assustados com isso e enfim, “encurtando” a história….estão colocando a culpa nessa “aceitação” da variação, vê se pode?
É complicado…
As pessoas não acreditam que o falante pode incorporar novos hábitos linguísticos e adequa-los de acordo com o gênero, contexto discursivo e modalidade de uso (oral ou escrito), é bem complexo…
